Product description
Universal garden lime for liming trees and reducing soil acidity in soils with too low a pH level. The product is very economical and easy to use. Liming trees and shrubs in the winter-spring season helps protect them from freezing and deep bark cracks, which can make plants more susceptible to infections and pest damage. A limed tree trunk effectively reflects sunlight, thus preventing excessive heating of the trunk during the day. Consequently, at night, when the temperature drops sharply, the risk of vertical bark cracks, known as sunburn, is reduced. Lime forms a protective layer on the bark surface, which helps protect plants throughout the winter and spring. Acidifying the soil with lime helps maintain an optimal pH level, improves soil structure and promotes a more effective effect of other fertilizers, improving the uptake of trace elements. It is recommended to repeat the procedure, as the soil pH level naturally decreases over time (soil acidification), while most plants grow best in slightly acidic or neutral soil.
Liming of trees: Use from November to the end of March. Liming should be carried out in dry weather, when the air temperature is above 0°C. If rain has washed away the lime layer, it is recommended to repeat the procedure. It is recommended to lime all fruit trees and shrubs, such as currants and gooseberries.
Liming of soil (deacidification): Use in late autumn or early spring, at least 3–4 weeks before the planned sowing or planting, as well as before the use of other fertilizers. Spread lime on moist soil on a windless day, approximately 0.5–1kg per 10m². Lime can also be used on soil where plants are already growing, but the soil must be watered abundantly afterwards to wash the white powder off the surface of the plants. Usually, one treatment per season is sufficient.
Do not use lime on plants that love acidic soil (acidophiles), such as rhododendrons, blueberries, azaleas, etc.
It is recommended to liming the soil intended for growing vegetables such as tomatoes, carrots, parsley, celery, peas and beans no later than late autumn.
