Grape Variety: 100% Shiraz Tasting notes: This Barossa Shiraz shows deep colour and a bouquet of dark forest fruits with a hint of chocolate and vanilla in the background. This is a full bodied, richly flavoured wine with soft, velvet tannins. Winemaking: the wine was matured in French and American oak hogsheads for 12 months prior to bottling. Serving temperature: 16-18oC. Contains sulphites. Can be cellared with confidence for another 5-10 years if so desired. Try it with a good steak, barbecued quail, roast beef or a tasty Cheddar. Portrait Shiraz is made in the tradition of the very first Peter Lehmann wine, and represents the heart of Peter’s Barossa. Fruit from more than 60 growers across the length and breadth of the Barossa makes up the final blend, affording consistency to the original Peter Lehmann style: robust and generous. Several of these vineyards are now 100 years old or more. But age alone doesn’t make a great Shiraz – it is how the vineyard is managed, the quality of Peter Lehmann Shiraz continues to improve as growers evolve and adopt new practices in the vineyard that allow us to make better wine.
